Kardashian sister, Kylie Jenner, has been a hot topic in the news recently. The 17-year-old reality star is now known to have influenced a disturbing trend among teenage girls on the web. It is called “The Kylie Jenner Challenge” and it has caused a stir across the country.

Kylie has starred in Keeping Up With The Kardashians alongside her four sisters and brother since 2007. When shown, Kylie always appeared to have small lips. After turning 17, she revealed a fuller pair that she has claimed to be just a lip liner trick. Skeptics accused the teen of having her lips surgically enhanced. But, when asked about the rumors, Kylie denied them.

Kylie Jenner's new look has gained a lot of attention. Especially, the attention of young girls all over Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. “The Kylie Jenner Challenge” made headlines about teens self-mutilating themselves in order to obtain “Kylie Jenner Lips”. Viral videos are posted showing someone putting their lips inside a shot glass, yogurt cup and even a Pringles can. They would suck as hard as they can and reveal drastically enhanced lips.

Those who have participated in the challenge hoped to get full, natural-looking lips, and others just out of curiosity. Either way, the results were swollen and sometimes bruised lips. Some have increased to abnormal sizes and would usually last for days.

This widespread trend has brought worry to parents hoping their teens don't harm themselves for looks or for likes. The outrage has reached Kylie Jenner, who tweeted a statement trying to discourage girls to try to look like her. The tweet may have deterred some, but videos were still made. The public was warned about possible permanent damage to the lips in hopes of shedding light on the severity of the situation.

In a recent episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kylie finally admitted to enhancement. Temporary lip fillers happen to be safer than tissue damage from a shot glass. She claimed she was not comfortable opening up about her lip fillers as it is insecurity. Her sisters have shown full support for what makes her happy.

Kylie announced her insecurity that has affected the insecurities of many young girls. The desire to look like someone else has caused traumatic experiences. And after everything, it was over something that wasn't real. This controversial topic may have been a lesson for young girls to love themselves. Even those who seem perfect, may not see themselves the same way.
