This patient noticed that his hair was thinning. He had read about several different hair restoration techniques and decided that he did not want to have a large scar on the back of his head. Instead he opted for the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique. With this technique single hair follicles of hair are harvested one at a time using a device called the SAFE Graft. With this technique we are able to carefully and gently extract hairs without damaging them and place them strategically for a thicker head of hair. With this patient, his family history indicated that his hairline would continue to recede. The decision was made to thicken the front and top of his head, and advance the hairline slightly. We preserved ample hair on the back of his head for future treatments if necessary. The SAFE Graft is similar to robotic hair transplant systems such as ARTAS which extract hairs one at a time, or NeoGraft which is a similar device.
