How Does Lip Augmentation Work?
The approach taken during the procedure will vary, depending on the chosen course of treatment:
- Lip implants
A thin incision is created at the corner of the lips so the implant(s) can be inserted below the skin. It may take 1 – 3 weeks for the implant(s) to settle into the final position and any swelling to subside; however, implants in the lips will give you improvements that are long-lasting. - Fat transfer
With a fat transfer, liposuction will extract fat from your thighs or other areas of your body that have excess fat. The fat will be cleaned and re-injected into your lips until the desired fullness is reached. Since some fat may be reabsorbed after the surgery, your lips may be filled a little more to compensate for this loss. Lip augmentation with a fat transfer may be repeated over time to enhance or sustain your lips, but generally, your results will last for several years. - Lip lift/vermilion advancement
For this surgical lip enhancement, a very small incision is made on the upper and/or lower line of the lip. A small area of skin outside the mouth will be removed so the lips can be stretched to replace the excised skin and stitched in place. This lip advancement surgery gives long-lasting results that improve the size and shape of the lips. - Dermal fillers
Minimally invasive lip augmentation can be done with injectable dermal fillers, such as Restylane or JUVÉDERM. Injections can be performed in one of our treatment rooms as an outpatient procedure. Based on the brand of dermal filler used, a local anesthetic may be in the formula or a numbing cream can be applied on the lips before the treatment. Once your lips are cleaned, several injections will be administered in the selected areas of the lips and then the filler will be massaged to create even results. You should be allowed to leave immediately after your treatment to resume your normal activities.
Who is a candidate for lip augmentation?
Nonsurgical or surgical lip enhancement can help give you more voluminous lips and a better mouth shape. Depending on your goals, you may decide on lip augmentation surgery for longer-lasting results or injectable fillers to avoid recovery time. It can be helpful to start with nonsurgical fillers to understand how different amounts of volume appear and then get lip augmentation surgery. Several of our staff and Talent have used this practice for a few different treatments, we had all good experiences and wanted to share below: Laser Tattoo Removal: After using 4 different laser professionals over the years, theirs is by far the strongest and most powerful thus far. More ink was removed in 1 session than any previous session with others. Morpheus: Was skeptical this would actually work.. but within 10 days the little tuft under the chin was GONE. And the slight sagging along the jawline gone ( we only did next/chin/jawline not entire face ). Will definitely repeat once a year to remain snatched! Patient age 37 and fit w/ trouble tightening that specific area with exercise / diet alone. This really worked. A++ Lip lift: For those who can't achieve the high cupids bow look with filler or want to minimize how much filler they need, slam dunk. Recovery was easy, looked 7-8 years younger post-op. Game changer. Finally the lips always desired and without filler. C02 Laser: Used 1 year post-op from lip lift to minimize scarring. Depending on how your body heals / how you scar a white spider-y scar can develop over time. 1-2 sessions with the C02 laser and it's nearly invisible. Some prefer to do their whole face for fresh youthful skin and the results we saw were GREAT. Also - Mel is amazing we love her!! And Dr K is highly experienced, makes you feel comfortable and the process fun. Highly recommend VIP for literally everything ❤️
The dr is amazing. I mean his bedside manner to his skill set Is all 100% top notch! All I had done was my lips a few years ago and I went in twice and got a full syringe each time. Surprisingly they are just now starting to fade away which has me ready to book another appointment. Thank God he is the first dr I went to and the only one I will go to so that I can continue to avoid ever getting botched. I just remember him studying my face and filling my lips according to how they were naturally and making them symmetrical with my face, at least I assume that's what he was doing because he took a minute to just look at me every so often and I completely trust him to make me look even better whenever I see him again. (Hopefully soon!) I have received countless compliments on my lips and most people think they are natural! Even tho I had 2 syringes. I think that's attributed to the fact he didn't just fill my lips just anywhere he really strategically placed the filler in my lips. i had a conversation with him about Botox as well and he gave me a recommendation to just get a little tiny bit to avoid any wrinkles he wasn't money hungry and pushing different procedures on me. I don't quite have the $ to go in yet. It's pretty expensive but you get what you pay for and I definitely won't take the cheap route when it comes to my face or body. If you're considering going to him to get some work done. I would go ahead and book that appointment he's awesome I doubt you will have any regrets

What Can I Expect After Lip Augmentation?
It's important to pay attention to all aftercare instructions given by our team to achieve optimal healing and the best results. After either a surgical or nonsurgical lip augmentation, your mouth will most likely feel sore or tender for a few days. With a fat transfer, you should expect the area where the fat was extracted to be tender also. Cold compresses and nonprescription pain medications are suggested to alleviate any inflammation and discomfort. The results of nonsurgical lip augmentation may be visible anywhere from 3 – 12 months based on the brand selected for the treatment. Surgical lip augmentation will provide lasting improvements, but the natural aging process will continue and can alter your results over time.
